BREAKING: Oklahoma’s Stunning Comeback Against Auburn Raises Alarms Over Team’s Lingering Flaws.

Oklahoma Must Face Difficult Journey After Squeaky Win Against Auburn

Oklahoma has a lot of work ahead of them with five rated opponents on the schedule, even after pulling off a thrilling 27-21 comeback victory over Auburn. A riveting duel between Oklahoma and Alabama on the road and Alabama’s spectacular victory over Georgia in the fifth week of college football were among the most exciting games of the season. Although they were down 21–10 in the fourth quarter, the Sooners were desperate to win after a hard loss to Tennessee. Oklahoma narrowly avoided disaster thanks to a late surge and a crucial interception that was returned for a touchdown, but they did not play up to par.

Oklahoma’s offense has had difficulty being consistent even with the victory. The improvement after Jackson Arnold’s unsteady debut has come from quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. taking the lead in the ground and air offensive. Still, if the Sooners are to make it through the difficult remaining stretch, they really need more playmakers to step up offensively. Oklahoma’s chances of winning the SEC title are dependent on how well they play on both sides of the ball in their ranked games against Texas, Alabama, Missouri, and other teams. The offensive shortcomings are a serious concern, even though the defense has held up fairly well thus far. The Sooners will have to settle into a rhythm and stay out of trouble if they want to compete with the best in the country. Maine might be their lone “safe” victory going forward, and Oklahoma’s route to bowl eligibility is far from assured given their difficult schedule. The Sooners are aware of how difficult it will be to succeed as they get ready for Texas in the Red River Rivalry.
