BREAKING: Newcastle United’s first team welcomes 17-year-old defender to training ahead of Fulham clash.

Eddie Howe will be hoping that his efforts this week on the training field can spur Newcastle United to a better showing as they get ready to play Fulham. With 10 points from four games, Newcastle is currently third in the Premier League, but their performance hasn’t quite lived up to the expectations. Pundit Paul Merson believes the squad might lose against Fulham on Saturday because they haven’t been able to perform at their best in the majority of games.

The uncertainty surrounding Alexander Isak, who is recovering from a toe injury, could make Newcastle’s situation much more difficult. This could indicate that Anthony Gordon starts in goal for the encounter at Craven Cottage. Doubt was increased by Isak’s absence from training prior to the weekend.

But in Isak’s place, someone new has come to light. In the club’s official YouTube channel, a video of a training session features 17-year-old Leo Shahar, a right-back with promise, practicing with first-team players including Joelinton, Dan Burn, and Alex Murphy. Shahar’s participation in the practice is indicative of his developing abilities, as Howe has regularly allowed juvenile youngsters to practice with the first team.

Shahar has been participating in training, but it is very doubtful that he will play in the match against Fulham. Shahar’s time will probably come later, with Emil Krafth providing additional cover and Kieran Trippier and Tino Livramento fighting for the right-back position. Trippier may have the advantage due to his effect from his substitution against Wolves last week, although Livramento is expected to start  right-back for Newcastle this weekend.
