Arsenal reignite their pursuit of Napoli’s star striker, Victor Osimhen.

This summer, the Gunners included just one fresh signing: defender Riccardo Calafiori. The team is intrigued in signing Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino, and negotiations over the ultimate amount are ongoing.
While everything is going on, it wasreported that Arsenal is ‘back on the quest’ for Victor Osimhen and may make a late move to capture him before the August 30 transfer window.
Earlier this summer, Napoli were unwilling to take nothing less than the €130 million (£111 million) release clause, but they may now be willing to let him go for roughly €100 million (£85 million).

An Osimhen signing could be Arsenal’s boldest move yet.

The Arsenal team made an excellent start to the season with a 2-0 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Kai Havertz made a strong start up front, scoring and helping.

Notwithstanding the above, Arsenal’s leadership might choose an alternative in the final third. Havertz has a tendency to squander clear-cut prospects, which could be costly in the title chase.

With this in mind, the club could be contemplating a late move for Osimhen, who has 76 goals and 18 assists in 133 outings since joining Napoli.
The Nigerian star, who was dubbed ‘world-class’ by Jose Mourinho last season, is more of a classic striker but has the ability to score goals, which is his primary responsibility.
Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres is another candidate on the club’s radar, but the Portuguese champions may want his entire £85 million release clause paid up front at this point.
This could be why Arsenal prefers Osimhen over Gyokeres. Napoli has been determined to sell him for a time and could take a price spread over several seasons.
