Welcome back to our look at the Miami Hurricanes’ 2025 recruiting class. With the season halfway over and National Signing Day less than two months away on December 4th, now seems like an ideal moment to get started. Keep in mind that recruiting is a constantly shifting landscape. This list is not carved in stone; new prospects will arise, and some will go away, as happens every year. Just a short reminder to be flexible with expectations. Now let’s get started.
A New Era of Recruiting
A lot has shifted since my last analysis, most notably the rise of the Transfer Portal. While it existed before, its influence has skyrocketed recently.
I could go into detail about the ideal strategy for using the portal in roster construction, but to keep it straightforward: the portal is where you look for top-tier talent and quick fixes for your immediate roster needs. Think Kiko Mauigoa, Cam Ward, Matt Lee, Zach Carpenter—those types of players. The portal is the extra touch, not the foundation. You build your team from the ground up through high school recruiting, and the portal fills the gaps.
Since its beginning, Miami has been ahead of the curve in terms of portal use, and this will not change anytime soon. In the future, they will continue to be a top destination for portal talent. I’ll have more to say about that later, once the roster needs are apparent and available players are found. For the time being, I’d like to underline that, while Miami will continue to use the gateway, the team’s foundation is still being created through high school recruitment.
