The Houston Texans released former Auburn defensive lineman Marcus Harris from their practice squad on Wednesday, but by Friday, Harris had found a new NFL home with the New England Patriots, who confirmed his signing. Harris was drafted by the Texans in the seventh round on April 27. He failed not make the regular-season roster but was kept on Houston’s practice squad as of August 28. Harris spent the first five weeks of the 2024 season on the practice squad, not seeing any game action, before being released midweek. The Patriots signed Harris after releasing defensive tackle Trysten Hill from their practice squad earlier in the week.
NFL teams can have up to 16 players on their practice squads, who are involved in all team activities except games. Teams can, however, promote two practice-squad players each game, allowing them to play on the field. Interestingly, the Patriots will play the Texans at 12:00 CDT on Sunday at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
