Crystal Palace may consider recalling winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi from his loan spell at Sheffield United, according to former Premier League scout Mick Brown. Despite just making 10 professional appearances for Palace, the 21-year-old has scored 32 goals and provided 16 assists in 57 games for the club’s U18 and U21 squads.
Despite losing Michael Olise to Bayern Munich in the summer, Palace still sent Rak-Sakyi out on loan to Championship side Sheffield United. He has made a reasonable impact there, with two goals and an assist across 11 league appearances so far.
Currently, Palace is facing a goal drought, with only six Premier League goals all season—the fewest in the league—and a concerning shortage of clear scoring chances. Jean-Philippe Mateta has contributed half of the goals, while Eberechi Eze, Marc Guehi, and an own goal from Brentford’s Ethan Pinnock round out their scoring.
According to Brown, this has led Palace to keep close tabs on Rak-Sakyi, though they may not bring him back yet. “They’re monitoring him, but the reason he went to Sheffield United was to gain regular playing time—something that’s still unlikely at Selhurst Park,” Brown shared with Football Insider.
However, Brown added that, given Palace’s struggles, there have been discussions about recalling him. “They included the recall option for a reason, but I’d still expect him to stay at Sheffield United for the season,” he stated. “While he could contribute, regular minutes at Palace aren’t guaranteed, and the loan may benefit his development more.
