Andrew Ivins, Director of Scouting at 247Sports, has praised Michael Carroll, an IMG Academy (Fla.) star. The Alabama offensive line commit is referred to as “a monster of a human.” After just four games in his new suit, the 6-foot-6, 315-pound juggernaut Carroll is making a solid case for a significant increase in the 2017 Top247 Player Rankings next month. Ivins has been anxious to see Carroll’s improvement throughout his senior season.
In a recent video that went viral, Carroll showed off his sheer strength by forcing a defender back and slamming him into the grass. He keeps showing off his strength, athleticism, and aggressive play against the Ascenders’ demanding, nationally ranked schedule every week. So, just what is Carroll demonstrating to the 247Sports scouting team?
group that’s got them giddy? Ivins gave Alabama supporters a lot of reasons to be optimistic about their future lineman when he shared his observations with Bama247.
Alabama Football Starts as Narrow Underdog Against Georgia
Alabama Football, which isn’t usually the underdog, is in a familiar situation as it takes on the Georgia Bulldogs. The Crimson Tide come in as small underdogs for the fourth straight game. Georgia was favored by 5.5 points in the SEC Championship played last December. The Bulldogs were also favored in each of the two matchups between the two elite programs in 2021. In Tuscaloosa, Alabama’s last home game as a favorite over Georgia occurred in the 2020 regular season.
Alabama is currently a 2.5-point underdog for the game next week, per FanDuel. The Crimson Tide will relish playing the underdog once more, even though the spread may change in the days to come.
Alabama has prospered in this role in the past. In the previous four games, they were in three of them. Georgia was the underdog, but the Tide won twice. Notably, Alabama won 38–10 despite going into Athens as small favorites in 2015. Had it not been for Georgia’s lackluster road effort in a close 13-12 victory over Kentucky last week, the current margin might have been greater. Meanwhile, Alabama surpassed Georgia in ESPN’s FPI and SP+ rankings thanks to their decisive 42-10 away win over Wisconsin.
