The Texas Longhorns are getting ready to host a highly sought-after defensive tackle recruit who is currently committed to the Florida Gators for Saturday’s game versus UTSA in Austin, according to a recent report from the On3 network. This gifted athlete switched from basketball to football later in life. Originally from Cameroon, he is currently a standout at Loganville (Ga.) Grayson High School. His recruiting has exploded despite his lack of experience when he received an offer from the Longhorns in the middle of August.
The player’s experience has been amazing. His stock has skyrocketed since he made his hasty commitment to the Gators following an enlightening visit to Gainesville. Reflecting his rising stature in the football world, major schools including USC, Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, and LSU have all issued offers in recent weeks. With his height of 6’4.5″ and weight of 280 pounds, he has been the focus of more and more elite universities nationwide.
It’s interesting to note that other schools, particularly Texas, have plenty of time to make an offer before the player’s official visit to Florida in November. There are rumors that the Longhorns, under the direction of defensive line coach Kenny Baker, could pose a significant threat to upset this budding star as the Gators continue to struggle on the field. According to 247Sports Composite rankings, the Cameroonian athlete is currently ranked No. 764 overall and No. 84 among defensive lineman, demonstrating that Texas’ early assessment of him was accurate. His numbers have been rising quickly. Previously, he was not among the top 1,200 prospects in the country.
