Nottingham Forest continues to pursue moves for Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez and Gunner’s Eddie Nketiah, along with sealing a deal to acquire Aston Villa’s Alex Moreno.
This two-time European champs have a track record of completing big acquisitions late in the transfer season, and this summer seems to be no exception. Forest is presently concentrating on reinforcing their assault after strengthening their defense with Nikola Milenkovic and Carlos Miguel, providing ingenuity with Elliot Anderson, and recruiting wingers Jota Silva and Ramon Sosa.
Nottingham forest are allegedly in talks with four prospective strikers, including Gimenez and Nketiah. A £21 million proposal for Gimenez was just turned down. The Mexican forward, who scored 26 goals last season and began the current season with four goals in three matches, has major clubs including Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur have indicated an interest. Mario Been, a Feyenoord star, feels Gimenez would do well in the Premier League, citing the possibility for future development at only 23 years old.
In the meantime, Arsenal demanded £50 million for Nketiah during the summer, which deterred potential partners such as Marseille and Bournemouth. However, with time running out, it is unresolved whether Arsenal will decrease their asking price. Forest have already had an initial proposal for Nketiah turned down but are still in talks. Given Kai Havertz’s emergence as Arsenal’s key striker and Gabriel Jesus’ return to fitness, Nketiah’s exit gazes more probable.
Furthermore to these attacking targets, Forest has completed a deal with Aston Villa for Alex Moreno. The lively left-back signed who joined Villa for £13 million in January 2023, is expected to transfer on loan with a buy option. Moreno, who dropped behind Lucas Digne and summer addition Ian Maatsen, was left out of Villa’s recent triumph against West Ham. Villa manager Unai Emery has announced that Moreno will be leaving soon.
Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo recently underlined the necessity for more acquisitions to round out the group. “We still need some pieces,” he told the Nottingham Post, emphasizing the necessity of adding the proper players to the club. Gimenez, Nketiah, and Moreno’s possible arrivals could be critical to achieving his ambition.
